Mentorship Program

LWHRA is seeking exceptional human resources professionals to join our 2018 Mentorship program, now in its 11th year. We are currently accepting applications for both Mentors and Mentees. Interviews will begin in late 2017.

Who We Are:

  • The LWHRA mentorship program is a developmental partnership through which mentors share their knowledge, skills, information, and perspective to foster the professional growth of their mentees.
  • The LWHRA Mentorship Program supports the Chapter’s objective of "furthering the ongoing enhancement of a dynamic, diverse membership and, as a result, the HR profession through learning and networking.”
  • We give senior-level HR professionals an opportunity to "give back” to our members and our profession through a one-of-a-kind opportunity for collaboration, goal achievement, and problem solving.
  • We provide an opportunity for Mentors to earn up to 5 general recertification credits each year, and up to 10 credits over three years.

Who You Are

Mentors

You facilitate professional growth for an individual by sharing the knowledge and insights you have learned throughout your years as a Human Resources Professional. The individual filling this role demonstrates that he or she has the right qualifications and is capable of carrying out the following responsibilities through:

  • Membership in SHRM, with LWHRA as your designated chapter affiliation with SHRM.
  • SPHR/PHR or an HR specialization certification (preferred, though not required).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources. This can be a combination of HR management, generalist, consultant, or a specialist role (i.e., benefits, compensation, recruitment, etc.).
  • Willingness to make a 10-month commitment, starting in February, to your Mentee with at least one hour per month of face-to-face meetings.
  • Available to your mentee by phone and/or email throughout the month for typically non-urgent or non-time sensitive consultations.
  • Attendance at monthly group meetings (required for participation in the Mentorship Program).
  • Completion of a pre-program interview in late 2017/early 2018.

Mentees

You are an achiever seeking developmental advancement through opportunities to learn and excel. The individual filling this role demonstrates that he or she has the right qualifications and is capable of carrying out the following responsibilities through:

  • Membership in SHRM, with LWHRA as your designated chapter affiliation with SHRM.
  • Consider yourself a dedicated professional wishing to gain additional knowledge in Human Resources.
  • Willingness to make a 10-month commitment, starting in February, to your Mentor with at least one hour per month of face-to-face meetings.
  • Attendance at monthly group meetings (required for participation in the Mentorship Program).
  • Completion of a pre-program interview in late 2017/early 2018.
