SIGs Home

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are an integral part of the LWHRA community, and participation is exclusive to LWHRA members.

Being a member or a leader of a SIG is a great way to network with others who share common professional interests. Our SIGs are led by LWHRA volunteers with a passion for their area of expertise or interest, and new members are always welcome.

To join a SIG, simply contact the group's leader. If you are interested in forming a new group, contact SIG Committee Chair Jim Gregson

HR and Its Connections - to promote interdisciplinary discussions that enrich HR strategic approaches.

Disciplinary knowledge means a body of knowledge that belongs to one discipline or field, i.e.: HR. Multidisciplinary knowledge means that many disciplines come together to expose, apply, or contribute with their own perspective, without exchanging anything or changing itself. Interdisciplinary knowledge means that it is possible to have exchanges and learning processes across disciplines, using different lenses to see a situation, experimenting with different practices and body of knowledge. For example, how might we approach an HR situation using Organization Development knowledge?

HR and its connections SIG started in 2014 with this approach: How much do Organization Development, Systems Thinking, Coaching and HR enrich each other? How does the intercultural environment play in HR and its connections? From which other disciplines, practices, and areas of knowledge can HR learn?

If you enjoy dialogue and learning from different perspectives, come to our meetings. We meet bi-monthly in Bellevue, on the 1st Wednesday of February, April, June, August, October, and December, from 5 to 6:30 pm. Send us an email in advance to reserve your seat.

Follow us on LinkedIn to check each meeting topic: HR and Its Connections a subgroup of Lake Washington Human Resource Association.

We live in the era of connectivity and complexity. It is not enough to be an expert in a field anymore. The opportunities are in between, across and beyond discipline boundaries.
