Introducing Our Keynote Speaker Scott Pitasky

Leading in the White Space

Session Description:

Human resources are changing.  The core work of the function is being infused with technology, new employment models and ways of working.  The opportunities to add unique value are found within the areas of expertise and increasingly in the “white space” between function and professions.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn about external trends influencing HR work.
  • Understand the ways in which HR teams are responding.
  • Expose the emerging opportunities in this new phase.

Scott Pitasky re-joined Amazon in May 2017, and leads Human Resources for the Consumer business. Prior to Amazon, Scott was Starbucks Chief Partner Resource Officer. He led the global HR team focused on building a talent function and transforming the companies partner experience.

Scott's background includes three decades of human resources and organizational design experience. He spent more than a dozen years at Microsoft, where he led the global talent function. Prior to Microsoft, Scott was an early Amazonian leading HR during a period of rapid growth. His career has also included human resource and finance roles with AlliedSignal (Honeywell) and as a consultant.

Before pursuing his career in human resources, Scott worked in strategy consulting and financial services with Citicorp. Scott graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in finance and management. Outside of work, Scott spends time with my wife (a math entrepreneur) and three sons who keep him on his toes and remind him of what's important.
