Register Today for the November Chapter Meeting!

Tuesday, November 8 | Hilton Bellevue

There's still time to register for the November meeting! Join us on Tuesday, November 8 for our monthly program: The Secret Sauce for Powerful Conflict Resolution. Hear from speaker Carol Bowser, founder of Conflict Management Strategies Inc., about how to resolve conflicts while maintaining our values, integrity, and honor.

About the Speaker: Carol Bowser

Carol Bowser founded Conflict Management Strategies in 2002, a company emphasizing training, mediation, and consulting on conflict resolution in schools and workplaces. Organizations hire Conflict Management Strategies Inc. to increase productivity by easing workplace conflict and tension, to train employees in conflict resolution skills, to evaluate internal conflict resolution processes, to facilitate tangible change within the working environment, and to coach key employees to higher levels of performance.

Carol began her mediation career in 1994 through training at the Pierce County Center for Dispute Resolution.  She served as a mediator for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission from 2004-2009.  After several years of practicing Employment Law, Carol decided to become an entrepreneur and work with organizations to prevent costly workplace conflict and share the gospel of "Managing Conflict - Empowering People."

ADA, ADAAA and Accommodation in the Workplace

Wednesday, November 9th | T Mobile Bellevue

LWHRA is co-sponsoring this great evening panel discussion with the Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC).

Years after implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Amendments Act employers continue to find administration of the ADAAA a complex and often frustrating matter. Join us for a panel discussion with industry experts on the increasingly complex issue of accommodation in the workplace.

Attendees will learn:

  • Their legal obligations under the ADAAA as well as other Federal and State Laws
  • When to engage employees in the accommodation discussion
  • How to prepare your supervisors and managers to respond to accommodation requests
  • If/when a leave of absence is a reasonable accommodation
  • Which resources are available to assist you with reasonable accommodation requests
