October Chapter Meeting:
So…You Want to Build an Inclusive Workplace

Description:

This session will provide a way to gain self-awareness into your inclusive mindset journey. You will learn where unconscious bias might be showing up in your day to day, and ways to improve the way you treat the people around you. The discussion will include an opportunity to identify the biases, known and unknown, that affect you (or your colleagues) at work and move from bystander to active participant in change. Participants will leave with tools and resources to use in making identified improvements to their world.

  1. The presentation will include background information on what biases are and why they exist.
  2. The presentation will provide ideas and best practices for where to begin or continue building an inclusive workplace.
  3. Real stories and examples of what has been effective will be provided for participants to see how these concepts have played out in real life.

Objectives:

  1. Participants will reflect on the prevalence of bias in their own workplaces and the visible or invisible impacts that bias has on an organization’s workforce.
  2. Participants will determine the actions they can take to promote inclusive behaviors to mitigate these biases in the workplace.
  3. Participants will understand how to use available resources to continue their role in building an inclusive workplace for all employees.

Cancellation Policy: LWHRA will accept cancellations received on or before ten (10) day prior to the event. Registrants who cancel on or before ten (10) days prior to the event will receive a refund. No refunds will be given for cancellations received after ten (10) days prior to the event. A substitute attendee will be permitted given the LWHRA office receives notice of the substitution on or before ten (10) days prior to the event.

Speaker Bio:

Trina Rappoport (she/her), MBA, PHR, SHRM-CP has 15 years experience in the HR field with specializations in Talent Acquisition and Talent Development. Currently a Learning and Development Trainer at Smartsheet, she has spent the last 6 months focused on the development needs of the organization’s talent to adapt to the ever changing world of work. A California native, Trina received a Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola Marymount University, holds the HR Certifications Professional in Human Resources (PHR) as well as a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and several training certificates with well respected content providers (Center for Leadership Studies, Franklin Covey, DDI, Blessing White and soon to be Insights Discovery).

Trina has always been a proponent of focusing on the whole person at work and the last few years have allowed her the opportunity to find opportunities to provide intersectionality between trainer and DEI advocate.
