LWHRA is seeking the right candidate to lead the Symposium committee in planning, organizing, and delivering its 2017 Symposium (annual conference). In this role, you will have the chance to develop several leadership competencies, including teamwork, partnering and relationship building, planning and organizing, delegating, and effectiveness.  Leading the Symposium committee also offers you the opportunity to make connections with other HR professionals that will enhance your career.

Legislative Update

As of the March 3, 2016 writing of this update, the Legislature appears unlikely to pass a measure that addresses statewide minimum wage or paid sick and safe leave.  These issues are, however, far from dead.  On March 5, labor-backed Raise Up Washington will kick off its campaign to qualify Initiative Measure No. 1433 for the November 2016 ballot.  Now is a good time to take stock of your existing local paid leave obligations and consider the paid leave and minimum wage requirements that would be imposed statewide if I-1433 were approved.
