LWHRA Career Support and Transition SIG

Whether you are unemployed, want to begin exploring making a change or just want to proactively manage your career this groups goal is to provide positive support and keep you moving forward! We will talk about the process of change and its impact on you, clarifying career goals, network with peers, share job ideas, identify your "burning question(s)" and have round table discussions. We will also have practical tips and or an activity in each session that supports you in landing that next job! Plus, on occasion, special guest speakers!

Wellness is the new buzzword when it comes to considering health-related offerings for your employees. But what does it mean, and how can you offer a compelling, cost-effective program that produces measurable results for your company?

Join nationally-published author and wellness strategist M. Nicole Nazzaro for a talk on creating a compelling case for the value of a wellness culture in your business. By the end of this presentation, learners should be able to:

Understand different methods for calculating the costs of employee illness (absenteeism, turnover, increased health care costs) and the potential ROI of creating a company wellness culture to address these issues; and effectively communicate the potential ROI of a company wellness culture to CFOs, CEOs and other top-level decision makers.
Develop a strategy for creating a wellness culture in their workplace that considers the culture, expectations and needs of all stakeholders.
Create options for implementing a wellness program in phases so as to implement change in a way that increases stakeholder support, reduces resistance, and over time becomes a natural extension of the overall company culture.

About our speaker: M. Nicole Nazzaro is the founder of the Wellness Playbook, an educational company devoted to creating learning tools for helping individuals and corporations to create positive outcomes in their health. She is the co-author of Fit By Nature (The Mountaineers Books, 2011) and has been published in Runner's World, Sports Illustrated, and other health, sports, and fitness publications. She is both an advocate for comprehensive wellness education, and a wellness success story herself.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Cost is $34 for LWHRA members and $49 for non-members. Attendees are asked to pre-register and pre-pay via our website registration process. If pre-paying by check, please mail to: LWHRA, 603 Stewart St., Suite 610, Seattle WA 98101.

Registration Deadline: 5:00 pm Thursday, May 3, 2012.

Refund Policy: LWHRA sets its registration fees as low as possible in order to make educational opportunities widely available. We will gladly issue refunds for event registrations that are canceled before the registration deadline. Because we need to make venue arrangements and order refreshments in advance, we are unable to refund registration fees after the deadline. No-shows who have registered but not paid in advance will be billed. Substitutions are always welcome. Please request your substitute to inform the registration desk that they are attending in your place.

Waiting List: If the registration deadline has passed, you are welcome to arrive at the venue at 11:00 am and enter your name on the waiting list. We will accommodate walk-ins whenever space is available. The onsite registration fee is $44 for LWHRA members and $59 for non-members.

Member Support: The Member Support Program provides free meeting attendance to LWHRA members. To be eligible for up to six months of meeting attendance, a member must be unemployed and a chapter member for at least one year. Impression Management: Influencing Others

Management and supervision require the ability to influence a wide range of people—both within and outside the organization. We will look at the vital aspects of your visual, verbal and vocal image that help influence those around you—from direct reports, to peers, to executives. You’ll explore what is effective in multiple settings with multiple audiences and develop an action plan to prepare for and manage interactions with those people critical to your success and that of your team.
